Reversible Coat - Coral Stripes
A brand new hero piece in our collection, The Reversible coat is based on our previous reversible coat block that you may remember from the Checkmate collection! A wide striped soft coral pink and natural coloured cotton is backed with a plain Khadi, both in a heavier weight, textured weaves. The top arm seams are then hand blanket stitched together by the ladies of The Stitching Project and is one of the reasons why this garment is a testament to the traditional processes used to make it, and why it is so important for us to do the work that we do to maintain these skills. Hand stitched around the collar and bottom hem on the plain Khadi side of the coat are three lines in orange and purple, for beautiful, subtle detailing.
This luxurious modular coat is unique in that there are so many ways to style it. It has no collar, so feels casual enough to wear around the house when entertaining, but its texture and bold stripe allows for a more elevated styling as a statement coat for your date night outfit. Turn the neckline and arm cuffs outwards for a bold contrast look to show off the hand stitching, or wear it oversized. The reversible jacket features natural wood button fixings that compliment the textured weave so well. Style this with a basic white dress underneath, or your favourite pants and band tee for that classic rock and roll look.
As always, our garments are designed in Fremantle, Western Australia. Made ethically from 100% hand-loomed Khadi Cotton in Pushkar, India by The Stitching Project. Designs are hand carved onto wooden blocks. Then Pawan, our block printer at The Stitching Project places each block onto the ink board. This process is repeated a hundred times over with amazing precision and experience to create the perfect patterns. All our dyes are Global Organic Textile Standards (G.O.T.S) Certified, and our fabric and processes are Craftmark Certified. Each of our Garments are proudly signed by every craftsperson who has had a hand in making it.
