Tank Tie Top | Red Ship Print
Our Tank Tie Top has fast become a summer classic, and staple in any wardrobe, as it can be layered easily over a plain white tee, or create that perfect apron effect over a more flowy blouse. An easy-fit tank top that fastens with double ties on either side in order to wear it in Summer on its own or with a bralette. The perfect trans-seasonal piece to add a pop of colour and sustainability to your outfit.
This time our Tank Tie Top comes in our ‘We Are Freo’ Collection Ship Print in red, designed by local artist Sonia Beato. These bold red wears well with other classic colours such as our true indigo layered underneath but would be just as playful with a pair of denim jeans and white sneakers.
Sonia Beato is a local independent ceramic artist who has a strong interest in the beauty of rocks and the work of Gustav Klimt. The Ship design represents the diversity and vibrancy of migrant workers in Fremantle and tells the story of Sonia’s connection to the heritage of her home in North Fremantle. The Ship sketch was on the original plaster ceiling in her family’s living room, as the original owner was a sea captain married to an Anglo-Indian woman. The sketch was that of a Portuguese Caravel ship, which is where Sonia is originally from. The symbolism of the ship has such significance in Sonia’s life, that she has mosaiced a ship on the front step of her home.
As always, our garments are designed in Fremantle, Western Australia. Made ethically from 100% hand-loomed Khadi Cotton in Pushkar, India by The Stitching Project. Designs are hand carved onto wooden blocks. Then Pawan, our block printer at The Stitching Project places each block onto the ink board. This process is repeated a hundred times over with amazing precision and experience to create the perfect patterns. All of our dyes are Global Organic Textile Standards (G.O.T.S) Certified, and our fabric and processes are Craftmark Certified. Each of our Garments is proudly signed by every craftsperson who has had a hand in making it.
