Reversible Coat - Indigo Khadi & Check Mate Blockprint
A classic ANJELMS Project outerwear staple piece for all seasons, our Reversible Coat in the Natural Plant Dyed Indigo colourway and Check Mate Hand Block Print is made from a heavyweight Khadi Cotton, with its texture being a key feature in the garment. This Jacket is collarless, and fastens with wooden buttons on both the Indigo and Check Mate Block Print side, depending on your mood.
The Reversible coat falls at ¾ length and is perfect for layering over jeans and a button-up top, or a dress in the warmer months that bring on cool evenings. With stitching detail around the collar, we wanted to highlight the craftsmanship of the team at The Stitching Project who we partner to produce all of our garments.
“Coming back from France with a heart full, having reconnected with my family and my birth country, and at peace with myself, I realised I had designed a collection that provided me with a safe environment. Something known and familiar, like my beloved and calming Indigo, and the comfort of reds that bring me joy and energy – maybe the colours that represented a coming home for me.” – Gaelle on the significance of, and her connection to the Check Mate Print.
As always, our garments are designed in Fremantle, Western Australia. Made ethically from 100% hand-loomed Khadi Cotton in Pushkar, India by The Stitching Project. Designs are hand-carved onto wooden blocks. Then Pawan, our block printer at The Stitching Project, places each block onto the cloth after dipping the block into the ink board. This process is repeated hundred times over with amazing precision and experience to create the perfect patterns. All of our dyes are Global Organic Textile Standards (G.O.T.S.) Certified and our fabric and processes care Craftmark Certified. Each of our Garments is proudly signed by every craftsperson who has had a hand in making it.
