Founded in 2012, Kullvi Whims is dedicated to celebrating the beauty of slow craftsmanship. They work with traditional craftsmen as their artisans, who have learned their skills of spinning, weaving, knitting, and crochet from family members, predominantly creating pieces for personal use, such as pattus, blankets, sweaters, mojiris, and socks. Aligned with the seasonal rhythms of mountain life, each Kullvi Whims piece embraces the deep connections between nature and craft.
In collaboration with the Gaddis to procure their indigenous wool, this pastoral tribe of the Himalayas known for their unique shepherding practices. They traverse the high Himalayan ranges annually, covering thousands of kilometers with their sheep to migrate to traditional pastures. Each Kullvi Whims piece embodies the essence of the mountains as every piece undergoes a natural dyeing process with colours derived from local native flora. Every knitted or woven piece serves not only as a beautiful creation but also narrates the stories of its maker and the journeys undertaken across the breathtaking Himalayan landscape.
