Long Vintage Dress - Lady In The Fence Print
4 pieces were made in each size.
This simple dress is modelled after an old french linen nightgown I purchased in a country market in France. We have shortened the line to turn it into a flattering day dress but kept all the traditional features from the gussets under the arms to allow movement, extra flow of fabric in the sleeves, a delicate gather around the neckline, finished by a 3 buttons front placket and half sleeves. The hand block printed border with our Lady In The Fence print on a light handspun, handloomed khadi give it a crisp finish. It has a tie belt for more definition but our tip is to add a chunky leather for a more textured look.
Lady In The Fence Print
Hooked rugs in folk art are an enchanting object, which in a way encompass many of the inspirations of each pattern the collaborators have worked with in creating each garment's quality in pattern and image. The core of this does come from the background of each creative involved, which involves visuality and storytelling. Hooked rugs have been described as essentially, ‘paintings in fabric’, and one could argue that individual expression through adorning oneself in garments; could be a personal expression of a theme which honours visual representation across all boundaries in life.
