We Are Freo - Sasha Britto

Meet Sasha Britto. This young woman with the brightest smile in Fremantle is so refreshing. She is genuine, funny and breathes creativity in the most nonchalant way. While she is an accomplished henna artist at The Fremantle Markets where we work together, she is also well known in Fremantle as a singer in bands like Warm Laundry which played at our Game changer launch and an artist which has exhibited throughout Fremantle. Her zest for life is infectious and a great hope for the creative future of Fremantle.
Tell us a little about yourself
I am Sasha Britto, henna artist, illustrator and musician.
What led you to Fremantle?
I have been living and working in Fremantle as a henna artist for over 10 years and it has completely changed my life for the better.
I love to focus and illustrate the weird intricacies of life through symbolism and shape, as well how my mind works through crazy experiences that we have to live through as humans especially.
What is the story behind your print?
This mandala represents my home in Fremantle. A circle centre to represent myself and my friends and family around me. A square to represent my foundations and my stability in Fremantle. Lotus flowers for my rebirth and strength I found living and being in Fremantle. And the henna leaves on the outside symbolising my amazing job. The whole reason why I am in this place!
What are your favourite spots in Fremantle and any tips for visitors or newcomers?
My favourite spot to be in Fremantle is sunset under the old Freo bridge that crosses over to North Freo. Best sunset spot!
